Hatchet 3 (2013) is the third film of horror of the Hatchet Series. It follows the ongoing adventures of Victor Crowley's adventures through Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp, as well as his brutal murderous rampage. The film's special effects are its greatest strength. Hatchet 3 uses a majority of makeup effects that are practical as well as sets. This is different from many horror movies today that rely heavily upon CG effects. It also features some really horrifying moments.

Kane Hodder is a standout among the cast and is a formidable villain. It feels like an '80s slasher movie, with the dialogue being somewhat funny and snarky. There are also some hilarious moments that stand out against all the gut-wrenching scenes.

Unfortunately, due to the limited budget (reportedly just $1 million) most of the locations are repeats from previous films in the series--the same boat house was used two times within the movie and much of it feels like it's been recycled from previous films in the series. Hatchet or Hatchet II may be able to recognize it as familiar, which could result in the film feeling almost (click now to view clip) too familiar.

Overall, Hatchet 3 was a good series. There was many gory moments and some great performances from the cast.
